Empty Slam Book

The first time I wanted to use a Slam Book was in my 12th standard. I just wanted a girl on whom I had a crush to fill that for me. I can laugh about the reason now. I had to pull all tricks in my bag to get that book which cost me around 100 bucks and that was huge money then. I would party for almost a week in Madurai with that money... :) When I partying, it is going for a movie and eating out in bhajji kadai or some parotta kadai when we return which would cost us just 30 bucks. This is partying in Madurai. Adho oru Azhagiya Nila Kaalam. Now coming back to the point, It was the last day of our exams and unfortunately she was in Bio-Maths group and her exams were over a day before. Somehow I got to know that she was coming to the school to meet her friends after our final exam. I had to persuade my friend who had a scooty to take me to the shop to get the book. I came back to school hoping to get the book filled by her. She was there standing with her friends having a last time chat. I voluntarily joined them and somehow asked them to fill the book hoping that she will also fill it up. There came the heavy blow to my heart. I could hear a voice call her. Even before I could realize what was happening there I saw her in a bike with a guy leaving the school. I was totally disappointed and all my efforts went in vain. I never had a chance to get the book filled by her. Never will I get a chance either as she is already married and settled in USA now.I have no clue how these people find guys from USA to marry.Nevertheless she is gone. Though the book had lots of pages filled in, to me it was just a Empty Slam Book..... :(

The only happy thing then was, the guy whom she in bike was her father.... :) he he he

Four Years later .....

Slam book is most popular during the last year of college. We generally use a diary as a Slam Book and this time I used a huge diary that I got from dad for that purpose. Many pass it around to anyone and everyone in college and force them to fill it up and years after college when they get to read them, most pages make little sense or no sense at all in some cases. Well this is a bitter truth that many don’t realize. Even I have filled few books though I never felt like writing them. Not that I don't respect them, somehow I never felt I was worth enough to write in a book that they treasure for life time. I always wanted a very few people with whom I have shared enough emotions to write in my book and I did succeed in that with few exceptions, which I was not able to avoid. The book now is a great treasure in my life with lots of emotions in it. A sad fact now is that few people don't have the same emotions they had while writing those pages. They are not to be blamed; after all they are busy with their lives. But still when I read them it brings a faint smile in my face. There are few which are very long and few short ones but I just love reading each and everyone again and again. There was also this incident in my life with the slam book which I will treasure for my life. Life was just beautiful..... :)

Life has changed a lot and so have I along with it, after all that’s the only thing constant in life

Off Side

Well I had to have a post on "Prince of Kolkata" as that was the least that I could do for this great legend. I never felt sad about Kumble's retirement. But when Ganguly started walking for the last time to take guard in the international arena , an instinct made me realize that I am going to miss something that I had been enjoying for the past 10 yrs in my life. Who could forget the act of him taking off his shirt at the Home of Cricket and defending the same when questioned by the English media. He was most aggressive captain India has ever had who taught what it takes to win tests abroad. Statistics has its own part to play boasting of his success, but it is his personality that made him unique.

Few of his great achievements:

Led India to World Cup Finals in 2003
Demoralised Srilankan bowlers including Vaas and Muralidharan at Taunton
Led India to Natwest Trophy at Lords
Led India to a Test match victory after a long time in West Indies
Broke Australians continous streak of victory in tests at Kolkata and many more not to forget that he started as captain after the match fixing scandal. To come out with flying colours after such an instance is a great achievement as everyone would agree. We will miss you towering sixes for sure.

Hail Dada .... ! India will always miss you ... :(

Had he scored in the leg side,he would have broken all the batting records.... :)

Just Voice

1st Knot - Themselves
2nd Knot - Relatives
3rd Knot - Society

The meaning for the 3 knots that we tie around the girl on our wedding, according to some commercial for a Jewellery shop  which I came across while watching Saroja in Sathyam Cinemas. What made me remember the ad was not the colourful saree the model wore, not the jewels that she had,not the music which was impressive and not even the Model herself who was gorgeous, but just the voice.People trying to make any guesses can stop now.It was none other than the voice which you have heard number of times saying

" En Iniya Tamil Makkalae
Ungal paasathirkuriya ???????? "

He has such majestic voice that he was able to score more than anything and anybody else in the commercial just with his few words. Really Impressive... !
